I stated in a previous post, "Your Will, Not My Mind's - II", that only when you are one with your Buddha nature/your divinity/the universe can you be free of the incessant chatter and control of the mind because when you are in that state, the mind cannot penetrate your being, the forcefield that exists around you.
But walking the path is more than freeing yourself from the control of the ego-mind, rejecting its guidance totally. It is seeking guidance from your heart/your Buddha nature/your divinity/the universe. And for the same reason that the only way to truly be free of your ego-mind is to be one with your Buddha nature, the only way to choose to consistently seek its guidance is to be one with it. Because seeking guidance outside your ego-mind requires great humility, and that only comes when you are one with your heart.
And that you must actively seek. How? One way is by prayer.
As an example, here is a prayer I recite every morning and evening:
"Dear Lord:
I am so grateful that I am not alone. That you are here with me now.
I invite you into all aspects of my life. I invite you into my subconscious, to be my subconscious, so that I am filled with light, radiate that light, and am a light unto myself and others, creating a forcefield that my ego-mind/mara/the devil cannot penetrate.
I am so grateful for your wisdom.
I ask you to bring me the wisdom I need to live the miraculous life I am here to live.
I ask you to bring me the wisdom to be at peace, strong, and secure.
I ask you to bring me the wisdom to be humble.
I ask you to bring me the wisdom to know that things are the way they are because it's just the way it is; it is meant to be; it's all ok.
Thank you Lord. I love you Lord. I need you Lord. I have faith in you Lord."
But prayer and intent are not enough. You must implement your intent by making the choice throughout the day, consciously at first, to feel the light within you, to feel grateful, to be filled with wonder, to be humble, to know that things are the way they are because it's just the way it is. Only then will you actually radiate light.
