In this connection, a truth, a fact, came to me recently when I was contemplating the force of the universe, the force of god (as you know from my posts, I use the two interchangeably). Throughout the universe, there is only one place that we know of where god's will is not done. And that is here on Earth. And here on Earth, there is only one specie that does not do god's will – man. Every other animal, plant, element and inanimate object implements the universe's will.
Only man, who was given a brain through evolution to think, has used that gift to question and disregard the force that resulted in him having a brain to begin with. Only man had the chutzpah, because of his brain, to imagine himself being made in the image of God (yes, I would argue that was man's thought expressed in the BIble, not God's – see my post at PreservingAmericanValues.blogspot.com, "The Bible – God's Word or Man's?"). And from that took the leap to believing that he could have the power of God on Earth.
And so man has used his brain to try and be in control not just of himself but of everything around him. The result, despite useful scientific discoveries, has been on balance an unmitigated disaster. A cosmic experiment gone seriously awry. We live in a world where inhumanity and cruelty is the norm, not humanity and kindness, because man in his desire for control has created insecurity as being the primary facet of his being. And that insecurity, as I've written, is the source of all violence and cruelty in the world. See my posts, again at that website, "The Root of All Abuse and Violence - Insecurity” (1/7/13) and “Insecurity as the Cause of Social Conflict and International War” (1/10/13).
The only way back from this brink of personal and societal disaster is for man to reconnect himself to god and the universe, the child of the universe that is him (see my post, "The Miracle That Is You"). All my posts and books go in this direction. Whether you call it your true Buddha nature, your unborn Buddha mind, god, the universe, your higher power – whatever you call it – the only way to be free of the emotions and suffering caused by your ego-mind is to turn to the Buddha/god within you. Totally.
Because only then will the ego-mind not be able to assert itself. Why can't you reject the guidance of the ego-mind, as I've written, without this conversion? Because there is no way to be aware every time the mind asserts itself, and without awareness you cannot reject its guidance. But if you are one with Buddha/god/the universe, then the mind cannot penetrate your thought process, your being. For when you are in that state, you have changed the direction of your energy flow and so create a forcefield around you that the mind cannot penetrate. (See my post, "Changing Your Life by Changing the Direction of Your Energy Flow," although at the time I did not see how to move from the momentary experiences I had to the total change that is needed.)
